• Top Five Famous Shoes from Movies

1.       Ruby Slippers

The ruby slippers worn by Judy Garland who played Dorothy in Wizard of Oz have become one of the most valuable pieces of film memorabilia ever. A number were made for the film but only nine pairs survived, the slippers were originally silver but the directors decided to change them to the iconic red colour to take advantage of the new Technicolor technology!

2.       Cindarella’s Glass Slipper

Glass shoes don’t seem like a very practical choice of footwear and if you can believe it Cinderella originally wore slippers made of white squirrel fur; it was only in 1697 that her fairy-tale footwear was changed to glass.

3.       Julia Robert’s Knee High Boots

Forever in and out of style no one wore knee high boots with as much sass and sexiness as Julia Robert’s character Vivienne in Pretty Woman. They are so popular there is even a pair of ‘Pretty Woman’ boots by influential shoe designer Christian Laboutin, featuring his iconic bright red sole.

4.       Saturday Night Fever

Have you ever seen a man in higher heels than these amazing white platforms worn by John Travolta from the film Saturday Night Fever? Not only are they pretty high for a girl to wear but Travolta managed to dance like a pro and not break his ankle! Win!

5.       Back To the Future –Nikes

They might not be completely there yet but give Nike another couple of years and they might have finished mastering the self-tying laces from Back to The Future. In 2011 Nike actually created 1,500 pairs of the trainers with all of the proceeds going to Michael J Fox’s Parkinson’s Foundation.
