• Autumn Winter 2015 Trend Report

This is a season to get massively excited about. Minimalism, refined, sport luxe, you will find no trace of in this season’s a/w 15-16 collections.  The trends of the coming season are glamorous, opulent, rich and almost a little bit excessive, but of course beautiful. Wonderfully, it would appear that designers have gone back to their roots, designing spectacular garments for no other sake than for fashion’s sake. Forget the bloggers, social media, street style and functionality, thank god, this season’s trends will be well received among women that love to be dressed and draped in exquisite garments.

Nothing seems quite simple with the myriad of styles, colours, prints, patterns, silhouettes and moods that have been conjured up within the collections. Second skin boots in purple and shiny vinyl looking and god knows how high they rise at Dior are statement making. An eighties revival dominates party wear, almost with perfect timing for the Christmas season, with prom dresses and rara dresses, cinched in at the waist, in metallic hues at the likes of Oscar De La Renta and Balmain.

And speaking of cinched in waists, it is once again time for women to tighten their belts and show off their waists.  A cumber band like belt wrapped its way around a pretty pink tunic dress on the Marni runway. At Celine and Donna Karen bright white fur embellished voluminous coats are pulled in at the waists and belted tops, dresses, skirts, you name it, emphasise the waistline with a whole array of belt styles.

Short and neat mod skirts and dresses in pastel pink shades oppose the glitzy and head turning sparkling and bejewelled dresses, covered in tassels and shimmering sequins at Balmain and Nina Ricci and printed and patterned in bright coloured brocade at Erdem and Matthew Williamson. ‘Designers have played fashion pick ‘n’ mix, pairing sumptuous fabrics, foiled like Quality Streets wrappers in tempting combinations,’ said Vogue’s fashion features director, Sarah Harris.

Ladies, it’s time to aspire to the runway once again and leave the street style trends where they belong. This winter is simply about being completely and utterly glamorous.

Welcome back Fashion, we missed you!
